Retroperitoneal Hematoma with Pelive Bone Frcture




Abstract
A total number of 175 cases of patients were clinically reviewed who admitted to Chuncheon Sacred Heart Hospital, College of Medicine, Hallym University, due to pelvic bone fracture during post 6 years from March 1985 to April 1991.
@ES The following results were obtained from analysis of patient's record who underwent laparotomy.
@EN 1) Laparotomy was performed on 35 patients (20%).
2) Twenty-seven of the 35 patients were male and the sex ratio of male to female was 3.34 :. The age range was 4 to 70 years, with a mean of 34 years.
3) The mechanism of injury in all 35 patients was blunt trauma and the most common cause of injury was traffic acident (71.4%), the next were fall down, compression by sand and violence.
4) The sensitivity, specificity and accuracy rate of percentesis was 84.6%, 20%, 66.6% respectively.
5) Twenty-four of the 35 patients had intra-peritoneal injury and there was no intraperitoneal injury in five instances. The most common injury was rupture of urethra and next was urinary bladder.
6) The most common postoperative complication was pulmonary complication and followed by urethral stricture.
7) Mean blood replacement of all 35 patients and patients of mortality were 9.22 Units patients (3,700 ml), 33.2 Units/patient respectively.
8) The operative mortality was 15% (4 patients) and the causes of death were irriversible hypovolemic shock, ARDS and multiple organ failure.
